SUMMER!

It's summer time again. It's the time to refresh my mind from the bundles and bundles of books in school. It is the time to do something new and refresh something. This summer I want to refresh my mind, give my mind a peaceful place. I want to explore new things like planning to study korean writing(Hangul) and language. Because I want to learn something new. Even though I am not enrolling to school that teaches korean language but still I want to study and that's the use of my laptop and internet now. This summer also is the time for me to plan the course that I wanted to take when I become a college student and what school I am going to. And I also want this summer to have an healthier body than before. I want also to learn more about the advance ways of swimming. I'm not contented of what I've learned last year, I want to have more swimming skills. :) And most especially I want to have a stronger and deeper relationship with the Lord.

United Nations

HISTORY OF UNITED NATIONS
The name "United Nations", coined by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt, was first used in the "Declaration by United Nations" of 1 January 1942, during the Second World War, when representatives of 26 nations pledged their Governments to continue fighting together against the Axis Powers.
States first established international organizations to cooperate on specific matters. The International Telecommunication Union was founded in 1865 as the International Telegraph Union, and the Universal Postal Union was established in 1874. Both are now United Nations specialized agencies.
In 1899, the International Peace Conference was held in The Hague to elaborate instruments for settling crises peacefully, preventing wars and codifying rules of warfare. It adopted the Convention for the Pacific Settlement of International Disputes and established the Permanent Court of Arbitration, which began work in 1902.
The forerunner of the United Nations was the League of Nations, an organization conceived in similar circumstances during the first World War, and established in 1919 under the Treaty of Versailles "to promote international cooperation and to achieve peace and security." The International Labour Organization was also created under the Treaty of Versailles as an affiliated agency of the League. The League of Nations ceased its activities after failing to prevent the Second World War.
In 1945, representatives of 50 countries met in San Francisco at the United Nations Conference on International Organization to draw up the United Nations Charter. Those delegates deliberated on the basis of proposals worked out by the representatives of China, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom and the United States at Dumbarton Oaks, United States in August-October 1944. The Charter was signed on 26 June 1945 by the representatives of the 50 countries. Poland, which was not represented at the Conference, signed it later and became one of the original 51 Member States.
The United Nations officially came into existence on 24 October 1945, when the Charter had been ratified by China, France, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and by a majority of other signatories. United Nations Day is celebrated on 24 October each year.

My Reaction:
I'm so thankful that Philippines was being part of United Nations. Because United Nations is one of the important organization in the world. When calamities strike, UN is one of the organization who help countries who were affected(countries/states who joined United Nations). And here in the Philippines, we have experienced their help during Typhoon Ondoy. They offers help to those who were in need.

UN serves as the connection of States/Countries and to have a good relationship with other countries/states.

Batang Mansisibak & Batang Kalabaw(Reaction)

*BATANG MANSISISBAK* - Reported by Cesar Apolinario

Compared to the other family, I've realized that I am very much blessed because I have a comfortable life compare to the others. But I am pity about their situation especially less fortunate children because instead that they are in school learning from their teachers, they are in a big water dumpsite. Collecting trashes that they can sell to the junk shop and to have money which they can give to their parents. When Cesar Apolinario went to that place he met 2 boys named Arnold and Buboy Garcia. They are one of the children who collect trashes in the water dumpsite. When Cesar asked about how much are their earning, they only earn in one day is only 14.00. 14.00 only is their earnings imagine that! And I truly realized that we, who have enough money to spend for the whole day rather for our daily expenses are very blessed.

I hope government officials must do something about it espcially DSWD. To help our less fortunate countrymen.

*BATANG KALABAW* - Reported by Jay Taruc

It is also one of inspiring documentary I've watched. It is also about the sacrificed of the children
who don't have enough income. They are the one who carry woods down to the mountain. Some only earned 1.50 within 3 hours. But sometimes they will not have that 1.50 if the wood that they are carrying was touched by a mud. I feel pity with this documentary. Government officials like DSWD can make a step that can help this young people not to suffer this very hard job.

Marriages in Asian Family

Marriage is very important in everyone's life. For us Filipino , we are the one who will choose our partner in our life . But in some Asian country their parents must be the one who will choose who will be their child's perfect partner . Or what we called ARRANGED MARRIAGE. Arranged marriages are viewed as a social and economic necessity, the terms of which are agreed upon by the families of the future groom and bride.

Modern day Bayanihan

BAYANIHAN is one of the tradition in the Philippines . It is helping each other . And today it is practice by the Filipinos . When someone needs helps they help them . And if cities are in the calamity the government or the other cities will help them .

Chinese Inventions and Discoveries

Chinese Civilization has given birth to the developments in navigation, spiritual balance, mathematics, and natural preservation.

Some Chinese inventions and discoveries include:
*Compass: Compass is a navigational instrument for determining direction relative to Earth's magnetic poles. It consists of a magnetized pointer free to align itself Earth's magnetic field. The earliest Chinese compasses were probably not designed for navigation, but rather to order and harmonize their environments and buildings in accordance with the geomantic principles of FENG SHUI. These early compasses were made using lodestone, a special form of the mineral magnetite that aligns itself with the Earth's magnetic field.

*Kite:Chinese kites went further in their natural simulation by designing their kites to fly for over three days. This kites didn't represent simply an entertainment for children but they were used for such highly sophisticated purpose as military communication.

*Seismograph:The first seismograph was credited to the Royal astronomer of the late Han Dynasty.

That's the few Chinese inventions, and there are more like stirrups , practical umbrella and other.
